Finally yesterday I took a powered usb hub and plugged that into his laptop and then plugged the mic into the hub and it started working again! He was able to dictate the rest of the day and then he came in this morning and it is not working again! Does anyone have any idea what would cause Dragon to just randomly stop working while his is dictating? He ordered a new one and when it came in he plugged it up and it started doing the same thing again! So I went out there and tried all the usb ports and none of them made a difference. So I told him it was probably that his mic had gone bad. I let him dictate notes with the other docs mic for one or two patients and it worked fine. It worked fine! I could talk and dictate a whole page worth of notes and no problems. To troubleshoot this I grabbed another doctors identical microphone and plugged it in. However, he can press the microphone on/off key and it will let him dictate for a few more sentences and then it will stop again. The Dragon toolbar at the top shows that it's "green" and actively listening but when he speaks nothing types and the audio level indicator doesn't move. He calls me the other day and says that while he is dictating it will just stop. He has been using this laptop with this copy of Dragon for about a year and a half. His laptop is an HP EliteBook with an Intel Core i7 processor, 8GB memory, 1TB drive (with 820GB free space) running Windows 7 Ultimate 圆4 with all important updates installed.
